Primary Purpose:

 

The 21st Century Community Learning Center program offers high quality activities to participating
students and their parents. The goal of the program is to foster student success. Site coordinators will provide
coordination to successfully incorporate the vision, goals and objectives into the activities of the site, and assist in
designing, developing and managing program components that lead to positive outcomes for the participating students
and their families.

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Certification:

  • Associate’s degree minimum or equivalent course work in child development or related area

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Experience working with school-age children preferably elementary school students
  • Leadership/supervisory experience preferred
  • Possess personal characteristics such as integrity, maturity, dependability, and good judgement
  • Proven ability to work effectively with a team
  • Demonstrate written and oral skills
  • Demonstrate good computer and record keeping skills
  • Hold current certificates in CPR and first aid or gain certification within 30 days from date of hire

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  • Know, understand, and implement all aspects of the 21st Century Community Learning Center program.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit required reports as required by the 21 st Century Community Learning Center program.
  • Supervise staff members.
  • Create and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and co-workers.
  • Conduct surveys of students, parents, and teachers
  • Coordinate daily schedule.
  • Lead/conduct team meetings.
  • Implement programs designed to increase student performance in core academic areas to prepare students for success on state mandated tests.
  • Supervise students; maintain safety at all times.
  • Implement adult education programs for parents of participating students.
  • Assist in achieving positive academic and social outcomes.
  • Assist in budget preparation, budget monitoring, and purchase of needed supplies and equipment.
  • Cultivate relationship with community partners and monitor partner participation in program.
  • Provide guidance and mentor staff members.
  • Attend professional development and/or other activities at night and on weekends as required.
  • Ensure team members share the same vision and goals.
  • Develop positive relationships with the school staff.
  • Assist in evaluating staff performance and make recommendations for hiring, discipline, and termination.
  • Assist in providing resources and tools for all team members.
  • Maintain all site supplies.
  • Ensure students are well-behaved and follow all school rules.
  • Keep school staff informed about program.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Work in classrooms and outdoor environment; tolerate outside weather conditions.
  • Lift and carry 20 pounds; reach in all directions.
  • Maintain emotional control under stress.
