Primary Purpose:

The Professional Learning Lead will be responsible for leading the professional learning initiatives in the school district. They will work closely with other curriculum and instruction staff to plan and deliver effective professional learning with a focus on the Shared Leadership Model, Instructional Tenets and the Curriculum Management Plan.  The lead will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and evaluation of high quality, engaging and aligned professional learning activities that align to the district’s goals and vision in order to meet the needs of the district's educators and students

 

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in education or related field, Master's degree preferred.

Valid Texas teaching certificate

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Experience designing and delivering professional learning activities.

Strong leadership and project management skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to analyze data and use it to inform decision-making.

Knowledge of best practices in adult learning and professional development.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders.

Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities.

 

Experience:

At least 5 years of experience in education, with a focus on professional learning and development.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Lead or oversee professional learning for New to Profession and Mentor Programs, Shared Leadership Model Cohorts, Reading Academies, Teaching Assistants, Department Chairs, Team Leads and Ready and Rising sessions
  2. Ensure professional learning content is threaded throughout sessions and connected to district goals and values
  3. Coordinate mandatory regional and state level professional development
  4. Resource Adoption Lead
  5. Manage the Professional Learning Catalog
  6. Organize summer Learn and Lead
  7. Coordinate and facilitate professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators
  8. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of professional learning activities to ensure that they are meeting the needs of educators by making campus visits, conducting learning walks or supporting PLCs
  9. Collect and analyze data to measure the impact of professional learning activities on teacher practice and student achievement
  10. Collaborate with district leaders and school administrators to design and implement professional development strategies and share data as requested connecting sessions to the district's mission and vision
  11. Stay up-to-date on best practices in professional learning and provide recommendations for improvement
  12. Create and maintain a calendar of professional learning opportunities for educators
  13. Support curriculum and instruction focus groups
  14. Develop and maintain partnerships with outside organizations and experts to enhance professional learning opportunities for educators

None

 

Working Conditions:

The Professional Learning Lead will work in an office environment, but will also be required to travel to schools throughout the district to provide support and oversee professional learning activities. They will work a standard workweek, but may be required to work evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate professional learning opportunities.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 25 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
