Qualifications:

 

      Education/Certification:

      High school diploma or GED

      Must be 18 years or older

     

     

   

      Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Ability to communicate, work effectively and cooperatively with children, parents, and staff
  • Hold current certificates for standard first aid and CPR for adults, children, and infants or able to obtain upon hire
  • Participate in 30 hours minimum per year of required training; trainings may be held during evening and weekend hours
  • Flexible in work hours

 

Experience:

Minimum of two years experience working with infants/children in a licensed child care center preferred

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  1. Assist in maintaining the TDFPS Minimum Standards and Texas Rising Star requirements with director’s guidance.
  2. Show an understanding of developmental levels of infants and children.
  3. Participate in professional development/training as determined by TDFPS Minimum Standards,

            Texas Rising Star, and the Cub House Director.

  1. Attend and participate in center staff meetings, team meetings, and individual conferences with the

director.

  1. Use positive guidance techniques that help children become increasingly responsible for their own behavior.
  2. Follow curriculum approved by the Cub House Director.
  3. Develop/follow weekly lesson plans.
  4. Build student portfolios throughout the school year.
  5. Mentor part-time child care aides.
  6. Help keep facility neat and orderly.
  7. Foresee and eliminate dangerous situations by constant supervision and appropriate instructions to the children.
  8. Build good rapport with children.
  9. Communicate effectively with children, parents, co-workers, and supervisors.

 

 

Physical Capabilities:

  • Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.
  • Be able to walk, squat/kneel, and sit on floors
  • Be able to hear and speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety
