Primary Purpose:

 

Direct and manage the instructional program and supervise operations at the Lockhart Independent School District (LISD) Pride High School and (LISD) Disciplinary Management Center.   Provide instructional leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service.  Direct the implementation of district policies and instructional programs and manage the operation of all PHS campus activities. Provide leadership and coordination to provide an aligned and articulated instructional assessment, accountability, and data analysis program for the district.

  

Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

Master’s degree in education

Texas mid-management certificate or principal certificate

Certified T-TESS Appraiser

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of child development with an emphasis on adolescent needs

Knowledge of behavior and social skill intervention techniques and methodology

Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to work effectively with students and manage their behavior

Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness

Ability to manage budget and personnel

Ability to coordinate campus functions

Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data

Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements of state assessment

Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements of state and federal accountability

 

Experience:

Three years of experience as a classroom teacher

Experience as instructional leader preferred

Instructional Management

  1. Collects, analyzes, and interprets testing and other student performance data in the evaluation of the overall instructional program.
  2. Effectively and enthusiastically implements all components of LISD teacher evaluations.
  3. Continuously monitors and evaluates the campus instructional program.

Personnel Management

 

  1. Ensures that evaluations clearly and accurately represent staff performance.
  2. Interview, select, and orient new staff.
  3. Clearly defines expectations for staff performance regarding instructional strategies, class-room management, and communication with the public.
  4. Encourages teachers to keep current with educational developments and to practice creative educational methods and techniques.
  5. Is effective in interviewing, selecting, and orientating new staff and makes sound recommendations relative to personnel placement, transfer, retention, and dismissal.

 Fiscal/Facilities Management

  1. Organizes, supervises, and manages the financial affairs of school or activity.
  2. Follows, and sees that staff members follow, appropriate administrative guidelines and requisitioning and purchasing procedures.
  3. Is familiar with the budgetary needs of campus and organizes and prepares an annual budget that incorporates the identified needs.
  4. Manages all school facilities and closely supervises a maintenance program to ensure clean, orderly, and safe buildings and grounds.

 Student Management

  1. Mediates disputes between parents, staff, and students in an skillful manner.
  2. Employ effective strategies to promote student compliance with rules, expectations, and operating procedures.
  3. Implement approved behavioral intervention strategies.
  4. Provide individual academic assistance to students as needed.
  5. Appropriately redirect and address student violations of the rules, expectations, and operating procedures by using approved methods for the assigned campus.
  6. Conduct student intakes and student release meetings as necessary.
  1. Organizes and maintains a guidance program that responds effectively to the needs of students.
  2. Organizes, supervises, and evaluates the student activities and extra-curricular activities programs.
  3. Establishes adequate control of the student body by providing necessary student management rules and by using a variety of disciplinary strategies and techniques.
  4. Works to achieve good student attendance and reduce the student dropout rate.
  5. Develops relationship with students that demonstrating an interest in their well-being.
  6. Maintains adequate communication with parents so as to communicate timely information to them regarding their children and regarding school management rules.

Supervise and evaluate the performance of office staff, teacher(s), and counselor(s).
