Position Objective
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age or older
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Leadership/supervisory experience required
- Experience working with school-age children (two year minimum preferred)
- Proven ability to work effectively with a team
- Demonstrate written and oral skills
- Demonstrate good computer skills
- Maintain high energy level
- Stand for extended period of time
- Lift 25 lbs.
- Tolerate outside weather conditions
- Hold current certificates in CPR and first aid or gain certification within 30 days from date of hire
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Ensure student safety at all times.
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Plan daily lessons/activities.
- Create daily work assignments schedule for staff members.
- Instruct/lead students during all lessons, activities, and games.
- Supervise small number of staff members.
- Mentor staff members.
- Assist the Director of Community Education in completing annual staff evaluations.
- Lead/conduct team staff meetings.
- Create a team-oriented atmosphere for staff members.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and co-workers.
- Maintain accurate daily attendance records.
- Assist children in maintaining the standards of behavior set by the program by using non-punitive disciplinary methods and positive reinforcement strategies.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development/training as required by the Director of Community Education.
- Conduct campus emergency drills as specified by the Director of Community Education.
- Know the procedures for medical emergencies.
- Complete and submit daily/weekly reports to the Director of Community Education.
- Maintain professional conduct at all times.
