Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  1. Ensure student safety at all times.
  2. Create and maintain a positive learning environment.
  3. Instruct/lead students during all enrichment activities.
  4. Prepare for lessons and activities prior to student arrival; store materials at the end of each day.
  5. Assist children in maintaining the standards of behavior set by the program by using non-punitive disciplinary methods and positive reinforcement strategies.
  6. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and co-workers.
  7. Maintain accurate attendance records.
  8. Work effectively in a team setting.
  9. Actively participate in team meetings with the site coordinator and fellow instructors.
  10. Attend staff meetings and professional development/training as required by the site coordinator.
  11. Know all campus emergency procedures.
  12. Know the procedures for medical emergencies.
  13. Maintain professional conduct at all times.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment

Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting

Motion: Frequent walking

Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment

Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise

Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
